HSE Officer

Golden skills is a leading firm, offering HR Consulting and recruitment services for the Oil and Gas Industry and other sectors in Uganda.

Our client has contracted us to hire an HSE Officer to work with them.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance the company’s HSE policies/systems by planning, implementing, evaluating HSE policies, procedures, programs and practices.
  • Maintain the integrated Management systems.
  • Develop / lead Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety process improvement strategies
  • Implement and Conduct risk assessment across the company’s branches by investigating work place hazards in order to enhance safety.
  • Liaise with legal, local, State and federal government agencies as it relates to the Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety programs.
  • Maintain an appropriate level of awareness, knowledge and preparedness by Coordinating HSE training programs.
  • Manage the facility internal HSE audit process and develop auditing strategies to enhance HSE program effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare and present reports on the day to day workplace HSE programs and policies including third party project HSE reports. The reports will include among others, training, orientation, maintenance of medical equipment, incidents and risk assessment.
  • Coordinate and implement Orientation programs for all personnel in the Oil and gas projects and also across all company branches.
  • In-charge of daily tool box meetings across all branches.
  • Check if all the employees are acting in adherence with rules and regulations
  • Work with HR to set up a new employee on-boarding process for safety

Requirements

  • years of experience as a Safety Officer in oil and Gas industry or similar role
  • Excellent knowledge of legislations and procedures
  • Excellent knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
  • Working knowledge of Safety Management Information System
  • BSc/BA in Safety Management or Oil and Gas Production.
  • Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or NEBOSH
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ HSE experience in a reputable organization.
  • Skill in training in HSE
